The restaurant ,,Einsi kaldi” is located at the ground floor of Hotel Vestmannaeyjar in a building with a long and remarkable history. The restaurant has been open since 2011 and seats 80 people.
The chef, Einar Björn Árnason ( Einsi Kaldi ) and his staff have a great reputation for intuitive cooking and excellent service.
„We had a wonderful meal at this lovely restaurant within Hotel Vestmannaeyjar. It was one of our favorites during a 16-day trip around Iceland. The lobster soup was by far the best we had (and we must have had it nine times during our trip). It's a secret recipe from the mother of the chef/owner and it has a hint of white chocolate and some wonderful spices. It was terrific! We both had the cod, which was delicious. The presentation of the lava cake was really special (and it tasted great, too) — it had some red crunchy bits that looked like lava. The staff here is really engaging and charming. We enjoyed chatting with them (and the chef/owner as well, who came out to talk with us and the other patrons). The flight of local beers was fun to try as well!“

„For a little town, this was a surprisingly sophisticated restaurant. We stopped in at an odd time so we had the entire place to ourselves. We enjoyed a local beer (Brothers Brewing), and appetizer and a delicious lava cake dessert. The only complaint I have is that the dessert was too small!“

„We had a late dinner and stumbled upon the place by accident as it was the last restaurant open. We ended up having our best meal of the trip around the country. My husband had the Monk Fish and raved about it. I am a vegetarian with food allergies, and was very happy to find many veggie options. I had the broccoli risotto which was excellent. The staff was kind and attentive. The chef obviously cared about the food quality, as he came out to say hello to each diner and check if you liked the meal. Must visit place in Haimey!.“
„A group of 6 went here for our final night in Vestmanna Island with 2 children. We didn't have any special expectations and hadn't red up on Einsi Kaldi beforehand. In short we were blown away by the quality of the food, how it was served and prepared. I would recomenf this place to anyone and will definitely go there again !!!“
